Tis the season for weddings

The wedding venue has been BOOKED! My little (middle) sister is getting hitched May 18, 2013 She decided on a venue recently and the date she wanted had just been cancelled, so I think it was meant to be! She will be wed at the Hidden Porch in Catoosa. The Hidden Porch just recently opened this past summer, and is gorgeous. She will be able to have the wedding and reception both outside. She has also said YES to the dress, but has not yet ordered it. She is going to be such a beautiful bride…
I will be the Matron of Honor and our baby sister will be along side with me, a bridesmaid. We have been looking for dresses, but haven’t found the one yet. I have been looking at some MOH speeches as examples as to what I will write about. My sister has had so much going on in her life, so I’m sure I can find plenty to talk about! We were BFF’s as small children and went on many family vacations together, she was diagnosed with Leukemia when she was in the 6th grade and is a survivor and she was recently accepted in to a nursing program at her college. And the list goes on! I’m so proud of all of her accomplishments thus far; I can only imagine I won’t have dry eyes during the ceremony! ;-)
She has decided on a peacock theme for the wedding. My mom has ordered a TON of feathers for decoration and to add to the bouquets and boutonnieres.
Here are a few pictures of the venue:

I’m looking forward to this coming weekend, as we have a family friend’s wedding to attend! She is getting married at the world famous, Cain’s Ballroom! She rented the venue for a Saturday night, so I’m imagining everyone in attendance will have a blast.

As for myself, I don’t have much to report…I started on birth control pills this past week. I will have a biopsy at the end of December to see if I have ovulated on my own. Dr. B said, New Year, New Baby..so I have faith it is going to happen in 2013! J

Crafting, Birthday and Lupron

What a busy past couple of months it has been for us.
My in-laws all celebrate their birthdays in the months of July, August and September so we have been busy celebrating with them these past couple of months. Plus, Matt's grandparents just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a nice family get together. We are staying fairly busy these days.
I’m completely done receiving the Lupron injections each month for Endometriosis. (Hip-Hip-Hooorrraayyy!) As ‘positive’ as I tried to remain about the whole time, I had my fair share off bad days. I hope my husband can forgive me for those off days. This Wednesday, I have an appointment with the specialist and I am really looking forward to it. We will have an ultrasound and prepare for the next steps. I will for sure be taking two months of birth control to wake my ovaries back up, as the Lupron made me go into a state of menopause, for healing purposes. I’m so thankful I found my doctor, without his supportive nurses, this ordeal wouldn’t have been so easy.
I recently celebrated my 25th birthday…I’m not sure how I feel about the number “25” yet. It sure seems like a big number. My husband will be celebrating 30 in January…so I’ll always be the younger one. ;-) We celebrated with a delicious leopard print cake. Matt sure knows my style!

The weekend following my birthday we headed to Arkansas early on a Friday morning. The annual War Eagle Craft fair was underway. (https://www.wareaglemill.com/fair.html ) They host the fair twice a year: Spring and Fall. The weather was perfect for outdoor shopping and eating. ;-) I had a big bag of delicious kettle corn and a cheeseburger. It is so nice to get out of town for a short while. For us, we have 3 dogs so we normally can’t stay gone long, unless we have a dog-sitter…so this one day trip was great.

The trees in Arkansas were starting to turn colors. It was a very pretty drive.

The pumpkin my sister decorated for me, on my birthday.

Lastly, I got my sewing machine fixed! Here is a picture of the little blanket I made. I was planning on giving it to my niece for Christmas, but have since decided to keep it for my future children, since it is the first one I've made. I haven’t yet sewn the backing on, because I can’t decide what to use. I’m thinking I will use a lime green fleece for this particular one.
Looking forward to Halloween – maybe the doctor can give me some happy and not spooky news – on HALLOWEEN ;-)

Lately

With the warm weather in Oklahoma being so WARM I haven't been too busy lately. It's nice to come home from work and relax in the cool house.

Last Friday night, We got to baby sit Matt's niece...we had a great time! We took her out to the lake to show her the water. She'd never been to the lake before. Since we went after dinner, we were in our nice clothes so we didn't get too deep in to the water. She thought it was so neat to see the boats. She doesn't understand distance yet, so she was reaching her hands up trying to touch them. :) We enjoy her company – VERY MUCH!

No other exciting plans for the previous weekend... Lexi coming to stay with us was the highlight.

Today I had my 4th of 6 doctor visits for the lupron shots. Each visit I have to have my blood drawn to check the estrogen level and receive the shot. Today I had no estrogen! ;-) I've learned to just smile and go with it. I would rather have a positive attitude about the situation rather than being a negative Nancy!

One of the girls that comes in the office the same day I do...for the same treatment is a very negative nancy! I smile, and tell the ladies goodbye, and she goes back to the lab complaining. She's going to have a rough time if her attitude doesn't improve :)

We are looking forward to a relaxing weekend coming up. Weekends with NO PLANS are few and far between so I'm really looking forward to spending some time with my loverboy.

spruced up style

To make up for lost time…I will do two blogs in one day!
If you haven’t noticed yet, it is SO HOT outside…
                       SO HOT!
At work, I have to dress in business clothes daily…for me that usually consist of black dress pants, a dressy top and matching flats or wedges. It dawned on my recently how boring my closet has gotten in the past couple of years! I wake up each morning – put my black dress pants on and head out the door for work. I took it upon myself to order some new clothes a couple weeks ago and when I received them in the mail I was so THRILLED. NEW clothes that scream, I’m a lady! Instead of…Hey! I’m a librarian wearing these ugly black pants every day! Out with the old, and in with the new! Here is a few of the new items…

Can't forget the ruffles!

I'm LOVING the color and length of these skirts.

It was meant to be, Fur babies!

When my husband and I got married and we were living in our new house, we decided we needed a puppy. He surprised me for Christmas with my first dog as a married lady! ;-) He was to be my first “fur child.” Willie is a miniature dachshund. He is dark brown, and oh so sweet! He likes to be held often and he is very smart! He and his “brother” are the best of pals.
My little Willie...The day Matt brought him home to me.

A couple months after having Willie, we decided he needed a companion while we were both at work during the day. While at the local pet store I found an ad for a miniature dachshund…everything worked out and we picked up our new puppy that day. George was born on Halloween that year, he was the last puppy of the litter and no one wanted him. He has the wrong color nose that the breed is supposed to have, so we gladly took him! While he was supposed to be miniature, he definitely turned out to be full sized. Either way, we love him the same! Both dogs are about 3 ½ years old now.
They hate clothing...but they wear it anyways.

Recently, my husband has wanted to get another dog. He really wanted a Doberman pincher puppy and after looking at ads for them, we decided to hold off because of the high price! On our lunch break one day, we saw a sign for Doberman puppies and just knew we had to stop and see them…Even if it was just to LOOK. Immediately after seeing a large litter of the puppies, I knew we would have to have one. We left there with a little girl who we call Mattie now. She is so sweet and full of energy. I have taken her on a few run/walks lately and that girl can GO. She is going to whip me in to shape before long.  I’m looking forward to seeing her full grown, by the end of the year she should almost be there. She weighs 20 lbs now, and growing like a weed!
On the way to her new home!

The little fur babies have been a blessing! I didn’t have any idea I would have so many problems trying to have babies – so the dogs have kept me busy some of the time…to help the time pass!

Peaches

This week I noticed that our peach tree was hanging low to the ground with LOTS of peaches. We ended up picking them on Tuesday night and decided to can them last night before they went bad! I chilled and cracked open a can today and they are DELICIOUS. I served them with dinner on Angel food cake and Cool whip!
The husband and I followed the recipe on this site (http://www.make-it-do.com/cook-it-bake-it/the-best-way-to-can-peaches/) and it ended up being super easy!

Here is a few photos:

The finished product!!

Today, I had the day off work so I headed "to town" to do a little shopping. I was in need of a couple new summer-y tops and shorts...I scored on them both!
I'm looking forward to the upcoming weekend...Saturday, My husband and I are going to a cookout with one of my co-workers and Sunday we will be attending my cousin's first birthday. Hopefully the weather isn't as it is expecting because the forecast say it's going to be 102degrees...for an outdoor party!!

Easy Breezy Weekend

Lazy Friday, Baseball game, and Blackberry pickin'!

Yesterday morning my husband woke me up early and took me out blackberry picking. We picked enough to freeze quite a bit, make a cobbler and lots of blackberry jam! He made both the jam and cobbler this morning. He is such a Betty Crocker...although he doesn't prefer to be called that!

Saturday night we spent our evening at the Tulsa Driller's stadium watching them take on the Springfield Cardinals. The game wasn't all that exciting, but it was our company picnic so we enjoyed the company there. We lost... 3-4!

I'm really looking forward to this coming week! In May, I started receiving a monthly shot of Lupron for Endometriosis. This week, I will get shot #2 of 6. I've never been so excited to go in for a shot, but I know that the end result for this will be such a blessing to Matt and I. So far, the side effects haven't been too bad! I was told mainly it would be hot flashes and mood swings. The mood swings are for sure here...but I've yet to experience the hot flash. I'm really hoping I can skip some of the side effects. =)
